Privacy policy
Last updated on .
This policy covers Shipcast, an open-source tool thatJosé Antonio Garrido uses to announce their own software projects, and this blog, where the announcements are published. Shipcast is run by its author, on the author's own computer, to post on the author's own accounts.
What Shipcast accesses
To publish an announcement, Shipcast connects to the author's own accounts on Instagram, Bluesky, Mastodon and dev.to, with the permissions each network grants for that purpose. On Instagram these are reading the basic profile of the account (its id and username) and publishing posts to it (instagram_business_basic and instagram_business_content_publish).
Shipcast does not collect, read or store data about any other person: not followers, not comments, not messages. It does not use any network's data for advertising, profiling or analytics, and it does not sell or share data with anyone.
Where the data is kept
The access tokens the networks issue are stored only on the author's computer, in a local configuration file that is never published. What Shipcast publishes is the announcement itself: the text and images the author approved, which become public on each network and on this blog.
This blog
This blog sets no cookies and has no advertising or third-party trackers. It counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which works without cookies or local storage and does not fingerprint visitors: it records the page you open, the site that sent you, your country and your browser and device type, and reports them only as totals. Cloudflare processes this under its privacy policy. The numbers tell the author which launches and channels people find useful; they are never sold or shared. The blog remembers your choice of light or dark theme in your own browser (localStorage), and that value never leaves your device. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may keep technical logs such as IP addresses under the GitHub privacy statement.
Deleting your data
Shipcast holds no data about anyone other than its author. The author can disconnect Shipcast at any time by removing the app from the account's settings on each network (on Instagram: Settings, Apps and websites) and deleting the local token; Shipcast then keeps nothing. If you believe Shipcast holds data about you and want it deleted, write to yeyochico@gmail.com and it will be answered within 30 days.
